The proposal is to convert the existing dwelling, No 1 Bellevue Park, into two self-contained one bed, two person flats. It is also proposed to demolish an existing store/garage and kitchen extension and build a three bed, four person house with front and back gardens.
Our design for the gap site represents a contemporary infill between two C19 properties. The area is characterised by small two storey terraces, gabled roofscape, painted render elevations and small front gardens defined by low masonry walls. We have adopted these features in our design.
A double gable elevation faces Hollywood Road. Stone walls are reinstated to the frontage of No 1 and the gap site providing additional privacy and security. Windows and doors are simple openings in the rendered elevations of similar size and scale to surrounding buildings. Due to the close proximity of surrounding buildings the planning application is supported with a 3D computer study to illustrate neighbour's privacy is not compromised by overlooking from the proposed development.
